thrust augmentation

: a process by which the thrust produced by a jet-propulsion engine may be increased temporarily over its normal value by some secondary means (as the burning of additional fuel in the tail pipe, or the injection of water into the engine inlet and the combustion chambers) which increases the mass flow, the velocity, or both
